Due to how young Playstation 2 emulation is,
there are not currently any emulators that are capable of fully running
retail titles. These emulators are only capable of running
some demos and a limited selection of screens from some retail titles at the moment,
and quite slowly at that. These emulators are only provided
for those who may find their debugging information or other
aspects useful.
The emulators below are considered works-in-progress. Due
to their development stage many of these emulators may exhibit
stability issues and may have little or no compatibility with
commercial titles. Also due to their development stage we
do not feel it's fair to rate these emulators as we do the
others, so all emulators in this category are un-rated.

v0.1 for Windows

Emution is a new Playstation 2 emulator written by Jez. Due to a lack of documentation and the disappearance of Emution's home page, not much is known about this emulator. There have been a few reports of Emution running a few demos, but no retail titles as of yet. Emution does not include any plugins by default, so you'll want to head over to the Playstation 2 Plugins page to obtain plugins if you decide to try this emulator |

PCSX2 is currently the most advanced Playstation 2 emulator, showing screens from over 40 games and running several demos and homebrew projects, as well as even running a Linux distribution designed for the Playstation 2. PCSX2 is coded by linuzappz, the current team leader for PCSX and is available on both Linux and Windows as well as in source form. PCSX2 also "ships" with a complete set of plugins as well as an emulated Internal HLE BIOS. Definitely worth a download!
There are several builds of PCSX2 available, for
more information on these builds, please refer to
the information below:
Windows Build: This is a standard build that will
run on most computers with Windows. If you are unsure
of SSE2 support, use this build.
Windows SSE2 Build: This build contains support for
a special CPU instruction set called SSE2. Most Pentium
4 processors and some Athlon processors include support
for this. SSE2 will provide you with better performance
if you are on a processor that supports it.
Windows Dev. Build: This is the same as the standard
Windows build except it includes debugging and logging
support for developers.
Source Code: This is the source code for the Windows
version, for developers.
