Due
to how young Xbox emulation is, there are not currently
any emulators that are capable of fully running retail
titles. These emulators are only capable of running some demos
and a limited selection of screens from some retail titles
at the moment, and quite slowly at that. These emulators are
only provided for those who may find their debugging information
or other aspects useful.
The emulators below are considered works-in-progress. Due
to their development stage many of these emulators may exhibit
stability issues and may have little or no compatibility with
commercial titles. Also due to their development stage we
do not feel it's fair to rate these emulators as we do the
others, so all emulators in this category are un-rated.

Cxbx is the most
advanced Xbox emulator available at the moment.
Cxbx plays many homebrew demos and is even beginning
to play commercial titles. Cxbx is an open-source
emulator published under the GPL. Cxbx is only
supported on Windows 2000 and XP and is distributed
in two forms. The standard build is the one most
users will want to download. The trace build includes
debug information that may be useful to developers. |

Test Core for Windows

Xeon is the
first Xbox emulator to play a commercial title,
developed by SF. At the moment, the NTSC version
of Halo is Xeon’s only playable title. More
titles are expected to be added to the compatibility
list in future versions. A test version of the
Xeon core is also available for download. Unfortunately
there is no documentation to accompany this release. |
